Part of Prague’s Žižkov district should undergo a transformation. A study has been developed in cooperation with the Prague Institute of Planning and Development (IPR) and the architectural firm Edit!, and the changes should occur at the same time the tram track on Seifertova Street is renovated. The project should be completed by 2022. 

Part of Žižkov has a steep hill, and the current design makes is inhospitable, with walls and steps that show their age.

The Town Hall of Prague 3 would like to revitalize the area by making it more pleasant and accessible. 

"This place in the heart of Žižkov deserves a complete renovation. I will leave the selection of options to experts from the Regeneration Commission, which is set up to protect the historical zone on the territory of Prague 3, "Prague 3 Mayor Vladislava Hujová said.

The study proposes changes to three main location. These are the space in front of the Bezovka shopping center, which is now a supermarket, the stairs linking Rokycanova and Táboritská streets, and a part of Seifertova Street. 

Bezovka will get a new wide staircase that gradually joins with a curved wall. The sidewalks there at the intersection of Kubelíkova and Táboritská streets will be extended for pedestrian safety.

Two options for the changes to Seifertova Street are being considered.

"Conservation advisers have expressed reservations about Seifertova Street in the presented conceptual study. On the basis of these, Prague 3 and the IPR decided that an alternative proposal would be prepared for the Lipanská tram stop, which would respect the remarks of the conservationists and the Žižkov Regeneration Commission,” Vítězslav Danda from Edit! said, according to daily Metro.

The second version of the study considers complaints about greenery on the slope, which was replaced by street-level trees.

The stairs connecting Rokycany and Táboritská streets are left in their current form, with a few small changes. 

At Táboritská Street, the crossing for pedestrians will be moved to the stairs with an extended walkway and a bench. Lights will be added to the stairs and a water feature will be at the bottom of the stairs.

The IPR will determine the final form of the study at the end of this year. The study will then be handed over to the City Council, which will decide on implementation.

The last major change to the area came in September 2016, when a monumental sculpture to honor poet Jaroslav Seifert was installed at a small triangular space at the Lipanská tram stop at the juncture of Seifertova and Táboritská streets. Seifert won the Nobel Prize for literature in 1984.
